Matt Radovich to launch live set at Stereosonic

admin | November 26, 2008

Redboxx: Matt Radovich and Shaun ViridianMelbourne Techno Collective’s favourite son, Matt Radovich will launch his Redboxx live project at This Saturday’s Stereosonic with long time friend and cohort Shaun Viridian. The duo have played a handful of shows under their Redboxx guise, to a select few, lucky enough to find about the hushed gigs. But finally the pair will have a coming out party of sorts, in front of the thousands of revellers who will hit the show grounds for the weekends festivities. Speaking ahead of the the gig Matt said he was looking forward to unleashing the Redboxx sound on the Stereosonic crowds. “Yeah it’s been along time coming, but we wanted to make sure that everything was just right before we launched the project. Shaun and I both set pretty high standards for ourselves and we didn’t want to launch the show, until we were happy that it had the right kind of energy. Both musicaly and on an entertainment level”

Redboxx perform live at 12.45pm on the Ocean stage at Stereosonic.

Unauthorized Bootlegs

admin | November 25, 2008

An interesting article on the history and continued prevalence of the bootlegged LP from the cats at Resident Advisor .net

http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature-read.aspx?id=985

Bootlegs have always been a part of dance music culture, but in an age where online documentation should hypothetically render the practice impossible to pull off, some stores still sell them. RA’s Richard Brophy tracks down the how and why of bootlegging in the 21st century.

John Tejada to mix next Fabric CD

admin | November 25, 2008

From Beatportal http://www.beatportal.com/feed/item/john-tejada-to-mix-fabric-44/#When:10:21:01Z

US techno star John Tejada has been announced as the man behind Fabric 44, the latest edition in the mix series from the esteemed London venue.

The producer, who has amassed an output of over 11 albums since the beginning of the ‘90s, has brought together 20 selections of deep and melodic house and techno which includes a large number of cuts from his own Palette imprint.

2008 mainstays such as Pigon’s ‘Kamm’, the mysterious ‘WAX10001’ and Nekes ‘Cristal’ are blended with the aforementioned Palette material as well as a couple of classics thrown in for good measure.

As Tejada explains, “When I finally listened to the mix, I put a lot of attention to detail of the way the tracks came together in and out. I did edit the tracks quite a bit, but it’s really subtle and it just helps with the flowing journey, to take it one step above of what you might hear when a DJ plays out. I wanted the whole track selection to turn into one piece of music: a techno-classical piece that has movements and moods from start to finish, like conducting an electronic symphony.”

Tracklisting:

01. Dave Hughes ‘Let’s Do It’ [Palette]
02. Pigon ‘Kamm’ [Beatstreet]
03. Namlook ‘Subharmonic Atoms’ [Macro]
04. Donnacha Costello ‘Colorseries Olive B’ [Minimise]
05. ‘WAX10001’ [Hardwax]
06. Nekes ‘Cristal’ [Oslo Records]
07. Alex Cortez ‘Phlogiston EP’ [Pal SL]
08. Palette All-Stars ‘Downtown Hotel’ [Palette]
09. Palette All-Stars ‘After School Special’ [Palette]
10. EQD ‘Equalized001’ [Hardwax]
11. John Tejada & Justin Maxwell ‘Benus Boats’ [Palette]
12. John Tejada & Arian Leviste ‘M Track 1’ [Palette]
13. Orbital ‘Farenheit 303’ [FFRR]
14. John Tejada ‘Torque’ [Palette]
15. M-Core ‘Be Gene’ [Ifach]
16. John Tejada & Arian Leviste ‘Forbidden Planet’ [Palette]
17. Substance ‘Relish (Shed Remix)’ [Scion Versions]
18. Spooky ‘Candy’ [Spooky]
19. John Tejada ‘The Open’ [Palette]
20. LJ Kruzer ‘Huba (Plaid’s 15 Years Lost Remix)’ [Uncharted Audio]
