Matt Radovich and Sam McEwin will support Ben Watt and Charlie May at this Friday’s Buzzin’ Fly label party, which will be hosted by Melbourne’s Darkbeat posse. Matt and Sam are set to once again rock the Garden Bar – which is fast becoming the pair’s favourite place to play – for what will no doubt be a capacity event. In a time when it a lot of old crews seem to be a little less prevalent on the events scene as they once were, it’s refreshing to see that there are new crews that are willing to fill the gap. Enter Gradient. The brainchild of adopted local DJ Samari and his Luxxeparty organisation will roll into Melbourne town on Feb 6 at Miss Libertine and will showcase the tremendous talents of Simon Slieker, Miyagi, Muska, Johan Elg, Danni B, Jem the Misfit, Samari himself and the MTC’s own Sam McEwin.

On Saturday February 6th GRADIENT kicks off from 10pm showcasing seven of Melbourne’s best DJ’s at one of Melbourne’s most respected establishments Miss Libertines.
Kicking of at 10pm Sam McEwin and Johan Elg will be building the vibe, exploring deep house and Tech and progressing through to Minimal.
Somewhere around midnight Danni B and Miyagi will take over the reigns looking to explore the space between Minimal and Techno.
From about half 2 Muska, Samari and Simon Slieker will take it home, ramping up the tempo and driving through till the 5AM.
Gradient is about building the night and progressing from the deeper lush end of the underground spectrum till it’s driving; always building; always changing.

Last week when we launched Melbourne’s Top Tunes of 2009 two charts were inadvertently left out due mainly to higher than normal levels of disorganisation here at MTC House. Nevertheless we couldn’t let you go without seeing these two fantastic 2009 charts from these two Melbourne stars. Local DJ and producer Uone has been hard at it in the studio with a brand new release due to hit stores on Jan 30. Entitled Kontrol, the title track is a driving house number with just a touch of Chicago flavour and the twisted techy sensibilities that we have become accustomed to from the Melbourne master.
Also included on the EP is a lively remix from another local outfit Continuum & a stripped back version from Frenchman Arnaud Le Texier.

OK so it might not be main stage, but the Melbourne Techno Collective boys Craig McWhinney and Sam McEwin will be closing out the Boomerang stage at this years Kiss My Grass event from 8:15pm. Tickets are selling fast for the annual festival, whose profits go toward supporting the Melbourne institution that is Kiss FM.
The boys promise a lively affair worthy of the all important closing slot, so get along and show your support.
