Brian Sanhaji cancels his Austrlian Tour

March 22, 2009

The following is a statement from Melbourne Techno Collective founder Sam McEwin.

It is with great regret that I must today announce that German live act Brian Sanhaji, who was billed to play at this Friday’s Tastes Like Techno event at Brown Alley, has cancelled his Asian tour, including all Australian dates. At this stage it is unclear exactly what the reasons for this decision were. In an email from his tour agent on the 20th of March it was stated only that Brian had pulled out of the tour due to personal reasons. The Melbourne Techno Collective have requested an official statement from his management, which we will make public as soon as it is received.

Please understand that the Melbourne Techno Collective and it’s partners were powerless to do anything to avoid this unfortunate situation and that the Tastes Like Techno event will continue as planned. Full refunds will be made available to ticket holders who no longer wish to attend this event, the details of which will be published at www.melbournetechnocollective.com.au as soon as they are made available.

On a more positive note, the Melbourne Techno Collective are thrilled to announce Australia’s best kept techno secret, Marcus Newman as replacement for Brian Sanhaji. Newman’s high energy Ableton sets could not be a more perfect substitute for Sanhaji’s own Ableton mayhem and he was picked specifically because of his unique audio collages and mind-blowing live performances.

Newman joins an already star studded cast including Pat Stormont LIVE, Dave Pham, U-One, Nadine and all the Melbourne Techno Collective residents, Sam McEwin, Matt Radovich, Craig McWhinney and Jay Reading along with many others. We at the Melbourne Techno Collective firmly believe that even without the services of Brian Sanhaji, this will be an amazing, high quality techno event, which should not be missed.

The show must go on!
