late 90s?

What sets a good DJ apart from the pack?

Not possessing any of the habits of bad DJs.

When and where was your first gig?

JB3 – Forklift (I think)

Most memorable gig and why?

Seems like the best ones are the ones I have most trouble remembering.

Most disastrous gig and why?

Jeez I fuck something up every time, but I guess a Sunday morning at Revolver a few years ago would have to take the cake: got too drunk before I played, got slapped in the face as soon as I finished, found a ‘free’ vodka and tonic smashed in my record bag at the end of the night, and had my jacket pinched.

How do you perform now? (CDs, vinyl, laptop etc.)

I’ve been moving between vinyl and my laptop for last 4 years. Leaning more towards vinyl at the moment.

Day job or full time jockey (live act)?

Day job: Business at the front, party at the back.

Complete This Sentence “Being a DJ is…”

working out ok for me.

Do you dabble in production?

Yes.

What does your studio consist of?

Well it’s in my bedroom, so if you must know….

Any bit of kit that is currently on your wish list?

Korg Mono/Poly, Juno, DMX, Memory Man, Alesis Midi-Verb. I’ve a list as long as my arm.

Got any big gigs coming up we should know about?

Hopefully a release party for my upcomming single on hAUL (Mike andCraig’s label). An another release/label party for my upcomming 10″ EP on Firecracker/Unthank.

Anything else you would like to plug?

If you made your way to Bimbos or Lucky Coq during the recent Best of Both Sides festival chances are that you would have come across the Best of Both Sides promo CD. Those of you who went on to play said CD would have been treated to one of the most – somewhat unexpectedly – brilliant and certainly best value for money mixed CDS of the year.

The mix itself is a super fresh, very “now” mix with ever so slightly more than a subtle throwback to the past. It is a genre defying romp through EDM that manages to engage and surprise throughout, without ever sound forced or premeditated.

…And of course the good news is that anyone who missed it during the BOBS festival can download it from the link below. Enjoy!
