We sat down with our next guest, Ed Thomas, who is playing at TECHNO and asked him a few questions, so you can get to know him a little better before his set this Friday night.

What was your first TECHNO experience?
My first techno experience was in the mid 90’s listening to recorded tapes of radio shows like tanzmition, the sound of now and the hardware show with my brother. He introduced me to techno.

Name some of favourite TECHNO artists/DJs, past and present?
In the early days it was guys like Jeff Mills and the UR crew, Dave Clarke, Space DJ’z, Speedy J, Luke Slater, Wille Tell, Viridian and Surgeon. And in more recent times guys and gals like DAX J, Jonas Kopp, Cleric, Rebekah, Re: Axis, The Detroit Techno Millitia, Perc and so many more. The Melbourne techno scene is as healthier as it’s ever been at the moment. There are so many local guys that can bring the heat just as well as any international act and that is more inspiring than anything else at the moment.

When and where was the first time you played TECHNO out?
I played at Inflation in the basemen in 2001, I was 18. My brother and his mates used to put on a techno party called Movement.

What was your Most memorable TECHNO experience ever?
Probably Sonar in 2006 and Movement festival in 2013 and 2014. Just going to a city like Detroit with such a rich music history let alone techno history is a very special experience.

What can people expect from you this Friday at TECHNO?
If I told you I’d have to kill you. Just kidding. It will be pretty tough take no prisoners style Techno. I love my deep spacey stuff too so look the fuck out!!! Might ever bring my TR-8 along with me. Buckle up buckaroos!

Check out this special Mix Ed has put together, to get you warmed up for this Friday!
