The esoteric art of the opening DJ
October 8, 2009
In this fantastic expose from the team at Resident Advisor, Jack O’Shaughnessy investigates the often under appreciated art of the warm up DJ from the unique perspective of the headliners who follow them. Here in Melbourne there was the famous story of when Danny Howells was so overwhelmed by the Rollin Connection’s warm up performance, that he attempted to take them with him for the rest of his tour. Needless to say the warm DJs job is one of the most important roles a DJ can play in a night and this article should be compulsory reading for any budding jock.
